Brazilian Elliottis Plywood
Softwood timber comes from gymnosperm trees such as Spruce or Pine. Softwoods are often evergreen and are usually less dense when compared to hardwoods such as oak or ash, making them easier to cut and less prone to splitting when using a hammer to hammer in nails.
Plywood is made from thin layers of wood veneer which are known as piles. These piles are then glued together with adjacent layers of wood, which have had their grain rotated 90 degrees to each other. This forms a very strong yet very thin material, making it ideal for use in construction.
Elliottis pine is typically coursed from Brazil in timber plantations. The main reason why this softwood species is chosen for plywood is due it its superior strength. However, whilst called Brazilian Elliottis Pine, it is actually non-native to the country Brazil and as such it is only available from plantations.
The Elliottis Pine plywood available for purchase on our online store is structural grade, Plywood CE2+ (structural). This means that in addition to conforming with BSEN636-2; not only is it a superb choice with regards to value for money, it is also multi-purpose softwood plywood, being able to be used for a diverse range of different task.
