What Is Tongue And Groove Timber?

This style of timber is cut to include 'tongues' and 'grooves' so that when places together, the timber fits together. This has numerous advantages over other timber board styles which are fasted together whilst overlapped, such as security benefits and weather protection.

This product is also known as Sarking or Panelling Timber, and sometimes abbreviated as T&G.

The Different Sizes You Can Choose From

Our Tongue and Groove Timber is produced from Swedish Pine logs and is available in a wide range of different sizes, including:

  • 12 x 120 x 3.6m,
  • 12 x 120 x 3.9m,
  • 12 x 120 x 34.2m.

What Projects Can Tongue And Groove Timber Be Used For?

Tongue and Groove Cladding Timber can be used on a diverse range of projects. One fantastic way to utilise this Panelling Timber is to create a smoothly fitted floorboard, providing a modern and uniform look. However, you can also use cladding to create weather-resistant panelling, sheds, garden buildings, stables, flooring, cladding, and any other timber projects where a seamless fit is desirable.

Caring For Swedish Pine Timber

Our Swedish pine Tongue and Groove Timber Boards are kiln dried. This means that it will have a stable moisture content so will not shrink or expand. This makes it ideal for indoor projects such as flooring as dry wood doesn't rot. So if you can prevent the wood from absorbing moisture, for example by keeping it indoors and using it as flooring, you won't need to worry about the wood rotting.

However, it's important to remember that as Swedish Pine is softwood, it can be susceptible to damage from rot and insects if placed outside without the proper treatment. So if you are planning on using the timber outside, remember that you need to use a suitable treatment product on the Tongue and Groove Timber to prevent it from absorbing moisture, and you need a treatment product that helps to protect against insect damage.
